Proposal to address drainage infrastructure

In the next few meetings, Council will hear specific proposals to address the sewer and infrastructure issues related to flooding during the June 25 and 26 storms. Proposals will include the following:

  • Increase funding for and acceleration of sewer replacement,

  • Provide a new basin just south of the library,

  • Streamline approval of sewer project agreements and designs, and

  • Cover ⅔ of the costs for homeowners replacing their overhead sewers.

The best time to fix the sewer overflow problem was 20 years ago when the City Council was deciding to build an arena. But we can’t go back and change those decisions. We can only move forward to improve the infrastructure related to the sewer and drainage issues as quickly as we can.
